THE FLYING CARD
Reverse two aces in t he deck. Let u s u se t he Ace of Spades an d the Ace of

Diamon d s for illustration. Shuffle t he deck an d strip the two aces to the to p.
Grasp the p rotru ding edges of t he reversed cards an d show the d o uble card as
one card. Let u s say t he s pectators see the Ace of Spades (the Ace of Diamo n ds
is hid de n behind it). Place the two cards back on to p of t he deck, re move the
face - down to p card an d lay it on t he table. The s pectator will p resu me this
card to be the Ace of Spades. Remove the secon d ace fro m the to p of the deck
an d hold it face d own over t he card on t he table. The ace in your han d (Ace of
Spades) is held abo ut a foot over the face - d own card on the table. Tap the back
of the faced own card in your ha n d an d show it to be the Ace of Spades, tur n
over the card on the table an d show it to be the Ace of Diamon d s.

ONE HAND LOCATION
Request that a card be selecte d. Reverse the deck, ask that the card be
re placed an d then that the deck be s h uffled. Rem a rking t hat, "The ha n d is
q uicker than the eye," s how that t he selecte d card is not on the botto m nor on
t he to p of t he deck. Hold the deck in the right han d in p osition for the one
ha n d cut. When your right t h u m b feels t he reverse d card, allow t he cards below
it to fall into your right pal m; co m plete the cut, t he n s how that t he selecte d
card is on the botto m of the deck.

THE BAD PENNY
Reverse t hree aces in the deck an d s h uffle. Strip the aces to the to p.
Execute a triple lift (showing the three cards as one). Let u s say that when you
s how t he s pectators the (app are ntly one) card, t hey see t he Ace of Hearts.
Remark t hat t he Ace of Hearts is a bad pen ny an d always keeps tur ning u p. Lay
t he three cards face down on to p of the deck. Remove the to p card an d place it
in t he center of the deck, face down. The s pectators will p resu me that you have
b uried the Ace of Hearts. Now, d o a do uble lift with the two cards on to p of t he
deck an d show t hat t he Ace of Hearts has ret ur ned to t he to p. Place the two
cards face d own on to p of t he deck an d, again, bury t he to p card. Once again
s how t he to p card, The Ace of Hearts is back! Throw u p your ha n d s in disgust
an d re mark you give u p.

THREE CARD MONTE
A good sucker effect., Have two cards p reviously reversed in the deck.
Shuffle an d bring the m to t he to p. Lift t he two cards as in effect #55, an d show
to t he s pectators. Place the two cards back on to p of the deck, then ben d back
t he corner of t he to p card an d place it face down on the table. The s pectators
will p resu me that the card with the bent corner is t he sa me one you have
s hown. Lay two m ore cards face d own alongside t he be nt one. Do not show the

faces. Move the three cards arou n d. Ask the s pectator to pick out the card first
s hown hi m, he will of course tur n over - the card with bent corner.

PASSE PASSE
Proceed exactly as in effect #58 (Flying Card) u n til after you show the
d o uble card an d re place the two on to p of t he deck. Then o pe nly take the to p
card an d place it face u n seen, in a s pectator's p ocket. The ace left on to p of the
deck is s h uffled into the deck. Now, "com m a n d" t he two aces to change places.
The s pectator will find t hat t he ace in his pocket is the one he p resu m e d to be
in the deck an d the one in t he deck t he ace he thought you ha d given hi m.

INKREDIBLE
Prepare an ordinary, u nstripped, Ace of Hearts by p u tting a dro p of blue
ink near the center of the large pip an d allow it to d ry. Insert this p repared ace
in your strip per.
Force the u n prepared , stripped, Ace of Hearts fro m your strip per on a
s pectator; or, cut to it an d show it to your a u dience but do n't look at it
yourself. Shuffle t he deck an d p alm out this tapered ace (leaving, of course, the
p re pared u n p repared ace in the pack). Insert the deck face d own into its case.
Patter about m agicians' blood having m agical p ro perties an d - as every
m agician ha s m agic in his veins - his blood can locate the desired card.
From your p ocket, take out a fou ntain pe n which you have filled with
vanishing ink* an d re mark that this effect req uires blood, blue m agicians' blon d
an d you have filled t he pe n with your own. Let one dro p of ink fall on the
outside of t he card - case, near t he center. With your forefinger, gently rub the
d ro p of ink. It will vanish co m pletely in a secon d or two. Rem ove t he deck fro m
t he case, s pread it face u p an d show the selected card has an ink s pot on it.

THE JACKS' PERSISTENCY

EFFECT: Magician ribbons prea d s a deck of cards, faces u p, an d slides t he
four jacks clear of the s pread. Leaving t he jacks face u p on the table, he gathers
u p t he deck, sq uares it an d invites any s pectator to s h uffle it. Taking the deck
back he asks four different s pectators each to insert one of the jacks at any
